Official Rules

How fast can you peel a banana?
Banana Games 2026 is a global, skill-based competition presented by Jungle Kitchen. Speed will determine the shortlist. The Banana Lord Committee will determine the World Champion. No purchase is necessary.

1. Key dates

Entries open at 00:00 Singapore Time on 1 August 2026.
Entries close at 23:59 Singapore Time on 7 November 2026.
The Banana Games World Champion 2026 will be announced on 5 December 2026.
Entries posted outside the competition period will not be eligible.

2. How to enter

1. Film yourself peeling one banana as quickly as possible.
2. Add a visible timer showing the duration of your attempt.
3. Post the video publicly as an Instagram post or Reel, or as a TikTok post.
4. Tag @wearejunglekitchen in the post.
5. Include your country and the banana variety used, where known.

No hashtag is required.

Stories, private posts and entries sent only by direct message are not eligible. Your entry must remain publicly viewable until 5 December 2026.

We recommend sending the published post to @wearejunglekitchen by direct message so that we do not miss it.

You may enter more than once. Each entry must show a separate and complete attempt. Only your strongest valid entry will be considered for the final shortlist.

3. The official attempt

Before the attempt begins:

• the complete banana must be clearly visible;
• the banana must be whole and unpeeled;
  
• the competitor’s hands must not be touching the banana; and
• the peel must not have been cut, split, scored, loosened or otherwise altered.

The clock starts
Timing begins at the first contact between the competitor’s hand and the banana.

The clock stops
Timing ends when the peel has been completely separated from the edible fruit. Small stringy banana fibres will not be treated as attached peel. The banana itself does not need to remain perfectly intact. This is a peeling competition, not a beauty pageant.

4. Permitted techniques

You may use one hand or two. The banana must be peeled entirely by the competitor’s hands.

You may not use:

• your teeth or mouth;
• knives, tools or machines;
• another person’s assistance;
• a table, wall or other object to split or tear open the peel;
• a banana that has been cut, loosened or altered before the attempt; or
• any concealed assistance or mechanism.

Another person may film the attempt, provided that they do not touch the competitor or the banana.

5. The banana

Any edible banana variety may be used. Please identify the variety in your post where possible. Examples include Cavendish, Lady Finger, Red Banana, Pisang Mas and locally grown varieties from around the world.

Where the variety is not known, write:
Banana variety unknown.

The banana must be:

• ripe enough to peel and eat;
• whole at the beginning of the attempt;
• uncooked and unfrozen; and
• free from deliberate cuts, openings or alterations.

Bananas vary considerably in length, thickness and peel structure. These differences will be considered when entries are shortlisted and judged.

6. Video and timer requirements

The entry must:

• show the complete banana before the attempt;
• show the competitor’s hands clear of the banana at the start;
• include a visible timer throughout the attempt;
• show the full attempt continuously;
• remain at its original speed;
• clearly show the moment the peel is completely removed; and
• remain publicly accessible during the competition.
  

The timer may be:

• shown on another device within the frame; or
• added to the posted video as a digital overlay.

The timer should begin at the competitor’s first contact with the banana and stop when the peel has been completely separated from the fruit.

The posted video may be trimmed before the attempt begins and after it ends. A timer, text, subtitles, branding or music may also be added.

The attempt itself must not contain:

• cuts or missing frames;
• changes in speed;
• jump cuts;
• repeated footage;
• artificial acceleration; or
• any other manipulation that affects the apparent duration or performance.

The displayed timer is provided for viewers and does not determine the official result. Jungle Kitchen may calculate the official time using the original video and frame-by-frame review.

Entrants must retain the original, unedited video file. Jungle Kitchen may request it for verification.

Filters, captions and graphics are permitted provided that they do not obscure the banana, the competitor’s hands, the timer or any part of the attempt.

Please use original audio or audio that you have permission to use. Jungle Kitchen may request a clean version of the entry without added music.

7. How the World Champion will be chosen

Stage One: Validation
Jungle Kitchen will review entries to confirm that:

• the attempt follows these Rules;
• the video is continuous and has not been improperly edited;
• the banana was not altered before the attempt;
• the starting and finishing points can be clearly verified; and
• the entry is otherwise eligible.

Jungle Kitchen may calculate the official time by reviewing the original video frame by frame. The timer displayed by the competitor is not the official result.

Stage Two: Shortlisting
Jungle Kitchen will shortlist the fastest valid entries. Peeling speed will be considered in the context of:

• the apparent length and size of the banana;
• the banana variety and peel characteristics;
• the completeness of the peel;
• the competitor’s technique; and
• compliance with these Rules.

There is no fixed mathematical formula for adjusting a time according to banana length, size or variety.

Jungle Kitchen will assess these factors in good faith using the submitted video and any additional information requested from the competitor.

Stage Three: The Banana Lord Committee
The finalists will be reviewed by the Banana Lord Committee. The Committee will comprise three independent banana farmers and/or sellers connected to bananas in:

• Nigeria;
• Singapore; and
• Sri Lanka.

If an appointed Committee member becomes unavailable, Jungle Kitchen may appoint an appropriate replacement.

The Banana Lord Committee will consider:

• verified peeling speed;
• banana length, size, variety and apparent difficulty;
• completeness of the peel;
• control and technique; and
• the overall merit of the attempt.

Each Committee member will independently vote or rank the finalists. Their combined assessment will determine the:

The final assessment is subjective. The Banana Lord Committee’s decision is final.

8. Verification

Jungle Kitchen may ask any shortlisted competitor to provide:

• the original video file;
• original video metadata;
• confirmation of their identity and country;
• additional information about the banana;
• confirmation that the submitted video belongs to them;
• permission from a parent or legal guardian; or
• a fresh verification attempt under specified conditions.

Failure to provide reasonably requested information within the stated deadline may result in removal from the shortlist.

If a result is tied or cannot be conclusively verified, Jungle Kitchen may request a fresh attempt from the affected competitors or ask the Banana Lord Committee to make a deciding selection.

9. The prize

The Banana Games World Champion 2026 will receive a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted Banana Games trophy.

Jungle Kitchen will arrange standard shipping to a deliverable address in the winner’s country, subject to applicable laws, carrier availability and international shipping restrictions.

The trophy:

• has no cash alternative;
• cannot be exchanged for another prize;
• cannot be transferred to another competitor; and
• may differ slightly from illustrations or promotional images because it will be made by hand.

The winner will be responsible for any taxes, customs duties or import charges imposed by their country.

10. Winner notification

The selected winner will be contacted through the social-media account used to submit the entry.

The winner must respond within seven calendar days and provide the information reasonably required to verify their eligibility and arrange delivery of the trophy.
If the selected winner:

• cannot be contacted;
• does not respond within seven calendar days;
• cannot verify their entry;
• is found to be ineligible;
• does not accept these Rules; or
• declines the prize,

Jungle Kitchen may select another finalist. The World Champion will be publicly announced on 5 December 2026.

11. Eligibility

Banana Games is open worldwide, except where participation or receipt of the prize is prohibited or restricted by law.

Entrants must comply with the minimum-age requirements of the social-media platform used to submit the entry.

Anyone under the age of 18 may participate only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

The parent or legal guardian must accept these Rules on the entrant’s behalf and may be required to verify the entry, accept the prize and provide delivery information.

Employees of Jungle Kitchen Productions Pte Ltd, members of the Banana Lord Committee and anyone directly involved in administering or judging Banana Games may participate for amusement but are not eligible to win.

12. Permission to use entries

Entrants retain ownership of their videos. By entering Banana Games, each entrant grants Jungle Kitchen Productions Pte Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:

• repost and publish the entry;
• edit it for length or format;
• crop, subtitle or add Jungle Kitchen or Banana Games branding;
• include it in compilations and campaign materials;
• publish it on Jungle Kitchen’s website and social-media channels;
• use it in public relations and media coverage; and
• use it in organic and paid promotion relating to Banana Games, Jungle Kitchen and future editions of the competition.

Jungle Kitchen will not intentionally edit an entry in a way that materially misrepresents the competitor or their attempt. Where reasonably possible, Jungle Kitchen will credit the entrant’s social-media account.

By entering, you confirm that:

• the video is your own;
• you have permission from everyone identifiable in it;
• you have the right to grant Jungle Kitchen these permissions;
• the entry does not infringe another person’s copyright, privacy or other rights; and
• any music or third-party material included in the entry is used lawfully.

13. Prohibited content and disqualification

Entries must be suitable for a general audience.

Jungle Kitchen may reject, remove or disqualify any entry involving:

• pornography or pornographic content;
• nudity or sexually explicit content;
• simulated sexual acts;
• sexualised use of a banana or any other object;
• obscene, indecent or graphic content;
• dangerous or unlawful conduct;
• abusive, threatening, hateful or discriminatory conduct;
• edited, accelerated or manipulated footage;
• a cut, loosened or altered banana;
• concealed assistance;
• false or misleading information;
• impersonation or submission of another person’s video;
• infringement of another person’s copyright, privacy or other rights;
• artificial engagement, automated activity or interference with another entry; or
• any attempt to interfere with the administration or judging of Banana Games.

Jungle Kitchen may clarify these Rules if an unforeseen technique, circumstance or loophole arises. Any material clarification will be published at jungle.kitchen/bananagames and applied as fairly as reasonably possible.

14. Changes, suspension or cancellation

Jungle Kitchen may suspend, modify or cancel Banana Games where circumstances outside its reasonable control make the competition unsafe, unlawful, unfair or impossible to administer as planned.

This may include:

• platform outages or changes;
• fraud or widespread manipulation;
• technical failures;
• legal or regulatory requirements;
• to events affecting the judges or prize; or
• circumstances preventing fair verification of entries.

Any material changes will be published on the Banana Games website. Nothing in these Rules excludes any rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Privacy

Jungle Kitchen may collect and use information made public as part of an entry, including the entrant’s:

• name or social-media handle;
• country;
• banana variety;
• video;
• competition time and result; and
• publicly posted caption.

Additional personal information, including contact details, proof of identity, parental permission and delivery information, will be requested only where reasonably required to:

• administer Banana Games;
• verify an entry;
• contact finalists and the winner;
• announce the results;
• fulfil and deliver the prize; or
• comply with legal obligations.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with Jungle Kitchen’s Privacy Policy.
Entrants should not publish their home address, telephone number, identification documents or other sensitive personal information in their public entry.

16. Social-media disclaimer

Banana Games is organised by Jungle Kitchen Productions Pte Ltd.

It is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram, Meta, TikTok or any other social-media platform.

By entering, each participant releases Instagram, Meta, TikTok and the relevant social-media platforms from responsibility for the administration, judging or fulfilment of the competition, to the extent permitted by law.

Questions, comments or complaints concerning Banana Games should be directed to Jungle Kitchen and not to any social-media platform.
